Stampede Reservoir - May 17, 2009 |
| |
|
|
We fished with Bill and Ken White from San Mateo.
We started off between the ramp and Jay's Cove using Sep's Gold Starlight
dodgers and a Gamakatsu Flat Blade Spinner tipped with Pink Pautzke Fire Corn.
Before we could get all the rods down we had fish on. It wasn't long before
we had limits of Kokanee averaging 13 to 14 inches. The bite was red hot.
Our best depth was 35'. Other equipment used this day was Shark Cannonballs,
P-Line 6lb CXX, G-Loomis CR-842-2 rods. |

Stampede Reservoir - May 16, 2009 |
| |
|
|
We fished Stampede late afternoon on Friday 5/15
from about 4:00 PM until dark. We targeted Mack's and Browns in deeper
water first with no success before switching over to Kokanee. We instantly
had hook up and fish in the boat. Are most productive set up was a Sep's
Gold Starlight dodger with a Pink Uncle Larry's tipped with Pink Pautzke
Fire Corn. All this trolled behind Shark Cannonballs. On Saturday morning
we picked up our clients at 6:00 AM and again started with a few passes for
Mack's and Browns and the switched over for Kokanee. We had full limits in
short order using the same set up as the night before on G-Loomis CR-842
rods. The fish averaged 12 to 14 inches. The best depth was 30 to 35 feet.
All the fish were in good shape. Stampede is off to a good start for the
2009 Kokanee season. |

Davis Lake - May 13, 14 and 15, 2009 |
| |
|
|
We Fished Davis Lake for three days this week starting
Wednesday before moving over to Stampede on Friday afternoon. Davis was
wide open as far as numbers but most of the fish were small. 30 plus
fish days were not uncommon. The average fish was less than 12" however
there are some much nicer fish to be taken once you weed through the small
ones. Copper was the color for us. We caught fish on several different
lures they all seemed to work as long as they were small and either all
copper or copper and red. I was using Pautzke Liquid Krill as scent on all
the lures. We also caught some fish on flies and talked to other people that
had done very well using flies. Looking back I wish I would have given the
flies more time. I think they would have produced larger fish in the
shallows early mornings. |
