10/10/12 Feather River

Lisa Rogers with her first Feather River Salmon. Lisa and her husband Nick went out for an afternoon trip. They are also the owners of Skippers Cove Marina on Englebright Lake. Our fish were caught on Kwikfish and dragging Pautzke Cured eggs.

What another great fall day on the Feather River.

10/1/12 Feather River

Another great day on the river. The first two on plugs and then switched over to Pautzke Fire Cured eggs.

9/30/12 Feather River

Hard fighting salmon today, we took these plus our deckhand took his turn at some as well. First couple fish fell for a K-16 Kwikfish with Sardine wrap (soaked in Pautzke Nectar) and the rest on eggs cured with Pautzke Fire Cure. Its amazing how strong P-Line Fluorocarbon is, twice today the fish went under the boat sliding the leader along the edge of the boat. Amazing stuff!

9/29/12 Feather River

We had a great day on the Feather River today. Limits all around. We had at least ten more hook ups, we couldn’t make stick. All but one fish were caught on Pautzke Fire Cured Eggs and the other came off of a Kwikfish.

Feather River King Salmon

We fished the Feather River today with a friend. We started back bouncing plugs. After about an hour with no results we switched over to roe. It wasn’t long before we started hooking fish. The first fish of the day was a nice hen that Mike landed. We fished several different spots above Gridley. We ended up keeping two, releasing four and losing another four or five. I was using Pautzke Fire Cured eggs on Gamakatsu 1/0 hooks on P-Line 15-pound Fluorocarbon leader.

9/13/12 Lake Tahoe

We launched in Tahoe City at 5:30 AM and headed out to start trolling for Mackinaw. We found good results early landing 5 and releasing three of them. Our clients wanted to Catch and Release today, however, two of the fish were bleeding so we kept them. The two we kept were around the 4 to 5 pound range. The three we released were closer to 2 pounds. About 8:00 AM we picked up and took a quick break, we decided to try a little jigging. We set up and landed 4 right off the bat and missed a handful of others. These fish were all around the 1 to 2 pound range and were all released. We decided to call it a day. I stopped by the farmers market in Tahoe City to spend some time with fellow guide and friend Bryan Roccucci before heading home.

9/10/12 North Lake Tahoe

Babe from Kansas caught this nice Mack.

Are clients today we visiting from Kansas. We launched at North Lake Tahoe and headed out at 6:30 AM. The water was a little choppy and figured it would only get worse. The spot we wanted to fish has no shelter but we decided to go for it anyway. After about a 6-mile ride we dropped our gear down to 280’ in 310’ of water. Thank goodness for the TR-1 keeping the boat straight in the wind. Within 10 minutes, we had our first fish that weighed in at 4.25 lbs. It wasn’t long before we had a twin to the first one. Surprisingly, the wind laid down a little. In the next 45 minutes we landed and released another Mack that was about a pound. We picked up and headed to another spot where we picked up five more releasing one of those. We ended the day keeping six Mack’s. The lure of choice today was a #3 Needlefish. Our original plan was to fish for Mack’s for and hour or two, then run to the south shore and target some Kokanee, we decided against it with the wind and chop on the water.
